FAQs

  • There are many reasons why an individual might seek psychotherapy. In regard to infertility and pregnancy loss, we most often see individuals and couples looking for ways to cope with stress, anxiety, grief or depression. They may be looking for ways to better communicate with their partners, how to choose the right medical treatment and how to begin exploring other family building options.

  • Online therapy has gained popularity and use by the general public and has grown exponentially since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This format of therapy is conducted through a HIPAA compliant video platform. You are able to conduct therapy in the comfort of your own home. Your therapist will send you a link to join the video call. When you click on the link, you’ll see your therapist appear on your screen, and your session will progress as it would in-person.

The process starts with an initial assessment where we obtain information to help understand your presenting problems and how we can best serve you. Together we develop treatment goals. The therapist will listen and may take notes. You won’t be criticized, interrupted or judged as you speak. Your conversation will be kept in the strictest confidentiality. Our highly skilled clinicians will use evidence based therapeutic modalities to help reach your goals.

Sessions generally last 55-60 minutes. Some shorter session of 30-45 minutes can also be offered. The frequency of treatment is often determined by the severity of the mental health issues with weekly to bi-weekly session being very common.

  • Therapy sessions are absolutely confidential in almost every instance. Therapists are required by law to protect your privacy. In addition, therapists are ethically responsible to keep your information confidential. In extreme circumstances of safety, some information may have to be shared, however, it will always be limited and the goal would be to ensure your safety and or the safety of others.

  • Our practice is in-network with Blue Cross and Blue Shield. We also work with clients who are covered by other insurance companies and use their out-of-network benefits. We can assist you with figuring out your insurance coverage. We will provide the required documents for you to be reimbursed partially or in full by your insurance company. Please contact us for any insurance or fees related questions.

  • We offer sliding scale financial options as a part of our ongoing mission to best serve our whole community. Those that have any private or commercial insurance plans are not currently eligible for sliding scale service and would be referred to our out-of-pocket fee. Please contact us for more information about the pricing and availability of our sliding scale services.

  • Insurance companies often restrict the services for couple’s therapy. Most insurance companies are not up to date on couple and family therapy practices and still require an individual person to carry a diagnosis and be seeking treatment. They want for the therapist to identify a single person in the family who is 'having' the problem 'for' the family or couple. Insurance companies also report these diagnoses to the Medical Information Bureau, which may impact your ability to receive insurance benefits in the future. A mental health diagnosis is not always needed for a couple to seek therapy, just like an illness is not always needed to try to improve overall health.

We at TrueBloom have seen the impact infertility and pregnancy loss can have on a couple and entire family unit. We offer our client’s the option for couples therapy while exploring other options for payment including HSA, FSA and cash rate options.
